| Don Letts: ‘Windrush stirred up some deep emotions. I walked down the street practically crying’ |
|
I n the mid-70s, when Don Letts was a young man being frequently trailed through the streets by police, he would stop his car, jump up on the roof and stand, arms outstretched, Jesus-like. He leaps up in the garden of his London home, replicating the pose. “I’d go: ‘Why are you guys crucifying me?’ And I’d start taking my clothes off,” he says.
