Foreign Minister Julie Bishop is "mildly optimistic" that Australian journalist Peter Greste could be released from an Egyptian jail soon. Ms Bishop spoke to her Egyptian counterpart two days ago to argue the case for the Al Jazeera reporter to be released for Christmas.
