"He always had a mystical side to him," said Jerry Gandolfo, the museum's director. He said Mr. Martin told him he had learned about voodoo from people who had worked on plantations his family owned in Virginia, Louisiana and Africa. Mr. Martin, who became a voodoo priest, did psychic and spiritual counseling, Gandolfo said.
