Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In 1954, Martin Luther King moved to Montgomery , where he was pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. He led numerous Civil Rights campaigns while in Alabama, and the Civil Rights Memorial Center pays tribute to his work. In addition, you can visit the Dexter Parsonage Museum and the church.
