Reinhold Niebuhr was one of the most influential theologians and philosophers of the twentieth century. His famous book, Moral Man and Immoral Society: A Study in Ethics and Politics (Charles Scribner’s Sons 1932), made a huge impact when it was published. His main thesis is that human beings are more prone to evil as a group than as individuals.
