Carlo Allegri/Getty Images (MEMPHIS, Tenn.) — The Memphis City Council voted to sell two public parks containing Confederate monuments on Wednesday in a move that cleared the way for the statues to be torn down. The state had denied the council’s bid to remove the statues earlier this month.
