The Manus Island detention centre has officially closed but more than 600 men are still refusing to leave, saying they fear for their lives in the Papua New Guinean community. Electricity was shut off to the final compounds on Wednesday morning, more than 12 hours after the scheduled 5pm shut down, and the generator was removed.
