I suppose, on the positive side, we had an extra hour in bed, but now that the clocks have gone back, the nights really are drawing in, meaning that 7pm feels more like 11pm! In light of this, I was drawn to this wonderfully atmospheric photo in the archive, taken on a dark Saturday evening in 1949.
