He says these things, but the Vatican has always supported Israel. It's doubtful Israel could've been established without papal support. Undoubtedly Francis is different, left-wing as he is, but mere pleadings for peace won't do any good. It doesn't do anything to seriously address underlying problems that cause of the violence.
