3. Take a scary ride. What: The Capital Fair has the same midway that was once featured at the Ottawa Ex. There’s a giant ferris wheel, the frightening Cannon Ball and more than two dozen other rides. The midway rides are free for an hour on opening day, Friday, Aug. 18, between noon and 1 p.m. Admission to the fair itself is free.
