Conference notes Tampa Bay flight St. Petersburg native Robert Walker, director of the Florida Aviation Historical Society, was in Qatar on Monday to help the aviation industry mark 100 years since the first scheduled commercial flight took off, a 23-minute trip from St. Petersburg to Tampa on Jan. 1, 1914.
