Archdiocese tweaks Holy Week rituals amid Covid-19 threat
THERE will be no public masses during the Holy Week, the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro announced Wednesday, April 1, as a precautionary measure against the spread of the new coronavirus. In a memorandum, Archbishop Antonio Ledesma said Catholic faithfuls can still hear the mass by watching it on television, radio, Facebook, among others.

CBCP asks priests to avoid Holy Week concelebrations
CBCP president Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles cited the Vatican guidelines which specifically instruct priests to avoid concelebrations. “Our celebrations must also show our sincere efforts at avoiding the gathering of people,” he said in a circular letter on the “Supplement to the Recommendations for Holy Week in Time of COVID-19.

Cruise ships ordered to remain at sea ‘indefinitely’
NEW YORK — Deaths from the coronavirus topped 1,000 in New York City as officials warned that the worst of the virus’ toll is yet to come. The city’s Health Department reported late Tuesday that nearly 1,100 people have died of the virus in the city. More than 1,500 deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded across New York state.
