Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday accused Hamas of violating a ceasefire that it had itself called and vowed that Israeli operations in Gaza would continue, as the death toll from 20 days of Israeli bombardment of the Palestinian strip rose to 1,031. |

He says these things, but the Vatican has always supported Israel. It's doubtful Israel could've been established without papal support. Undoubtedly Francis is different, left-wing as he is, but mere pleadings for peace won't do any good. It doesn't do anything to seriously address underlying problems that cause of the violence. |
