China accused of crimes against humanity by US for Xinjiang 're-education' camps THE US has accused China of committing "genocide and crimes against humanity" for its network of "re-education camps" where millions of Uighur Muslims are incarcerated.

Asia foreign policy writer at Reuters David Brunnstrom tweeted: "In a massive parting shot, outgoing US Secretary of State Pompeo just determined China has committed 'genocide and crimes against humanity' in treatment of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang. Secretary of State Pompeo made the call after weeks of internal debate.
