Besides its beauty, the fossilized flower is noteworthy because of the journey it took: It bloomed on the ancient supercontinent Gondwanaland and was encased in amber before hitching a ride on a continental plate known as the West Burma Block. That plate slowly shifted from Australia to Southeast Asia, a journey of 4,000 miles.
