Global Eco Watch: Reliance plans ‘largest zoo’ in Jamnagar

Reliance's zoo won't be the first private zoo in India. British statesman Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles in the early 1800s established the London Zoo in Regent’s Park, dubbed the world’s first modern zoo. Regent's Park was inspired by India's and Asia’s first zoo Barrackpore Park near Kolkata built by Governor General Richard Wellesley.
