The 14 percent growth in global Islamic finance industry assets was partly due to elevated levels of sukuk issuance in the traditional markets in the GCC and Southeast Asia. Green and SRI (socially responsible investment) sukuk grew in prominence in the UAE and South East Asia and have continued to grow in 2020 with the entrance of new issuers.
