Hong Kong-listed shares of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), China's largest manufacturer of semiconductors, plunged nearly 20% by the afternoon. U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is considering imposing export restrictions on SMIC, according to a Defense Department spokesperson.
