Wall Street down after worldwide slide; gold rises again

Stocks are moving broadly lower on Wall Street Friday amid increased tensions between the world’s two largest economies and a mixed batch of company earnings reports. The S&P 500 was 0.6% lower in the afternoon. It had been down 1% shortly after trading began. Stocks sank more sharply across Asia and Europe after China ordered the closure of the U.
