She was asked. “An agent approached me and said someone was looking for an Asian-American mystery series,” says the Cleveland writer, who met the agent through the Sisters in Crime mystery writer society. At the time, Chien, a 1999 Valley Forge graduate, had only written one novel, and it was sitting unread in a dresser at home.
