The FTSE 100 closed down 40.74 points at 7610.70 and the pound was at $1.30 against the dollar. Worries over the spread of a new coronavirus spooked traders today, after heavy overnight losses in Asia as fears mounted that the virus could become as big as the Sars crisis that also started in China in 2003.
