Hong Kong's Hang Seng picked up 0.5% to 28,367.18, while the Shanghai Composite index gained 0.4% to 3,094.44. In South Korea, the Kospi rose 0.9% to 2,174.85. Australia's S&P ASX 200 climbed 1.2% to 6,813.60.
