HIV infection is a major problem in the Philippines. In fact, it is now considered as an epidemic. Worldwide, the number of new HIV infections are significantly decreasing. The Philippines is one of the few where the reverse is happening. New HIV infections in the country account for more than 85 percent of new cases in the Asia and Pacific.
