Ms Maitlis revealed last year on Radio 4’s podcast that the camera angles used on BBC Newsnight can be risky. She said the camera “creeps up” on her from the floor and she has to take measures to make sure she does not reveal her underwear. The first thing she does is implore the cameraman to take the shot from higher up.
