Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 0.4% to 22,135.98 and the Shanghai Composite index rose 0.2% to 3,004.48. The Kospi in South Korea climbed 0.4% to 2,089.00 and Australia's S&P ASX 200 picked up 0.6% to 6,760.50. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost less than 0.1% to 26,465.78. Shares rose in Taiwan and Singapore but fell in Jakarta and Bangkok.
