The pests first landed in Berks County in 2014. They were brought here, it is suspected, on lumber imported from southeast Asia. By last year, the bugs began making a real nuisance of themselves. It was Aug. 5 and I had just come back from visiting my kids and grandkids in Texas, the scary bug capital of the U.
