HOW AUSTRALIA WAS INVOLVED IN WWII. WHEN DID AUSTRALIA JOIN WWII? On the evening of September 3 1939 Prime Minister Robert Menzies announced via radio that Australia was at war - two days after Nazi Germany invaded Poland, and Britain declared the general mobilisation of its armed forces.
