| US appoints South Asia, Middle East expert as new consul general in Mumbai |

An expert of South Asia and the Middle East, David Ranz, assumed charge as the Consul General of the United States in Mumbai on Monday. He replaced former Consul General Edgard Kagan. David Ranz has previously worked on both South Asia and Central Asian Affairs. He has also had a diplomatic stint in Pakistan.
