He made his announcement May 12 in the Legislature and said he will work until the end of the month. DeGraaf, 60, revealed his affliction with the disease two years ago, after seeking help for fatigue and pain. He was first elected to the House in 2008 and has been re-elected since then. DeGraaf earned his bachelor’s degree in 1979 from the U.
