One hundred years ago this week, the United States declared war on Germany and entered World War I on the side of the Allies. Chattanooga's morning paper, the Chattanooga Daily Times, on April 6, 1917, printed the expectation that the declaration would come that day, as the United States Senate had approved war just days before.
