On March 12, 2017, I read a story in a local newspaper about women being “sold” at Shs 20,000 in Luweero. The writer explained how men were excited about acquiring wives at such a cheap price. The story further cited the price of acquiring a wife from Busoga at between Shs 20,000 and Shs 50,000.
