The week after Trump was elected, the Rev. Ed Rowe, the church's previous pastor and co-chair of Methodist Federation for Social Action, called for churches to be sanctuary congregations at a news conference at the church. "Open up the sanctuaries and allow those in danger to come in," Rowe said.
