SAN BENITO — The community responded with an outpouring of love when Guadalupe Ayala was diagnosed with colon cancer. That was in 2008. At the time, he was a San Benito police officer twice awarded the Medal of Valor for saving two lives and recognized by the FBI for arresting two men on the agency’s most wanted list.
