I was in high school and had taken my bicycle out to visit with a friend who lived just on the other side of the Erie Canal bridge. When I left the friend's house it was sprinkling, but just as I got to the end of the bridge -- and was at the top of a hill -- the deluge came with sudden wind and blinding rain, taking me completely by surprise.
