| In Italy to become cardinal, Cupich asks city, state leaders to work together |
|
His remarks came a day before he was to be elevated to the rank of cardinal, the Roman Catholic Church's most prestigious title next to the papacy. The elevation gives Cupich a vote in future papal elections and inspired hundreds of Americans to travel to Rome to see him receive his red hat from Pope Francis on Saturday at the Vatican.

Verse of the day
