| Brit Bennett's 'The Mothers' is filled with graceful beauty -- and issues that will make you squirm |
|
Some of the decisions the characters in The Mothers make could cause readers to squirm. So why read it then? As another poet, John Keats, wrote, "Beauty is truth, truth beauty." The Mothers is filled with hard, beautiful truths and is so remarkably poised that it's hard to believe its author is only 26.
