“It was wrong” said Davonte Roary of the verdict. Davonte Roary was lifelong friends with Gray and stood by him just seconds before the arrest on April 12, 2015. He was the other man who ran, but was not arrested by police. Roary said he and Gray had already begun jogging to Gilmor from North Ave. and Mount Street when police began to pursue them.
