On his first day in one of South Africa's notorious Western Cape prisons, 16-year-old Ivor Swartz knew his only choice for survival was to join one of the brutal prison gangs that ruled the correctional centres. "If I didn't join a gang very quickly, there's a good chance I would have been raped in the first few days," said Ivor.
