| 'Tragic situation': Record number of rough sleepers on Sydney streets |

A record number of homeless people are sleeping rough on inner Sydney streets, in what Lord Mayor Clover Moore has described as a tragedy requiring urgent action. Volunteers counted 486 people sleeping on City of Sydney streets in the early hours of February 23 – more than at any time since the street counts began in 2008.
