The man, identified as Matthew M. Williams of the 1000 block of East 46th Street, was inside a home in the 7100 block of South Calumet Avenue when someone outside fired shots, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. Bullets came through the window and struck the man in the back, police said.
