In the Orthodox Church we recite the Beatitudes at every liturgy on Sunday and at other times. The Beatitudes become embedded in our consciousness. Over time you cannot help but memorize them. You may be familiar with them; they are the very beginning verses of the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew, chapters five through seven.
