| American duty-free threats send Turkish lira to new low |

Turkey’s central bank intervened to stop a rout in the lira yesterday after Washington threatened to end duty-free access to American markets, sending the currency to a new low against the US dollar. Turkish exports worth as much as $1.7 billion could be affected by the United States trade representative’s decision to review duty-free arrangements.
