Joe was born in Brattleboro on Oct. 14, 1942, the son of Joseph and Evelyn (Howe) Wood. He was raised and educated in Brattleboro graduating from Brattleboro Union High School, class of 1960. Later in life he took classes at Keene State College.
On July 25, 1960, he was married to his high school sweetheart, Iva Jane Winchester, who survives him.
