AKRON, Ohio -- In a true turning of tides, the Akron Baptist Church has been purchased by The Word Church. The Akron Baptist Temple was founded on segregation and grew to become a megachurch. The Word Church, which is predominantly black, has locations in Warrensville, Cleveland and Akron.
