Robin Roth, 52, is chief executive of Gateshead-based fair trade organisation Traidcraft. Born in Manchester, he studied languages at Durham University before briefly training as an actor at RADA. He worked in the furniture and fabric businesses in the UK and Europe before joining fair trade organisations in Germany.
