Honoring Gus. A memorial service commemorating the 51st anniversary of astronaut Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom’s death will be conducted Saturday at his boyhood home. The residence, 715 W. Grissom Ave., Mitchell, will open to the public at 5:30 p.m., and the service will begin about 6:15 p.m. Steve Grissom, president of Virgil I.
