A huge manhunt was underway Monday after a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed while responding to a report of a home invasion near Frederickson late Sunday night. The slain officer was identified by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department as Daniel McCartney, 34, of Yelm, a Navy veteran and a father of three young boys.
