She was born in Mitchell on July 29, 1923, to Florene Connell and Katie (Clouse) Connell. She married Richard G. Harris on December 26, 1946, in Mitchell and he survives. Evelyn was a beautician. She graduated from Mitchell High School and the Beauty Academy in 1942, and she was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church.
