Norman Hecht Jr. estimated that he has attempted suicide approximately 15 times in his life, including while he was running support groups for people with suicidal thoughts. Preventing suicide and helping people after a survived attempt will be the focus of a Nov. 2 event held by the Interfaith Network on Mental Illness.
