An e-mail from a 12-year-old showed up in my inbox a couple of months ago. “Ma'am, I am a seventh grader at Bergman Academy, and I am a student philanthropist at the same time,” it said. She had already raised more than $3,000 for Blank Children's Hospital, and had a fundraiser coming up. “Right, and I’m the Easter Bunny,” I mused.
